Reading

Please read for 5-10 minutes every day and ensure that reading diaries are signed. Diaries are checked on Mondays and Fridays.

Spellings

What do I need to do?
Spellings are sent out every Thursday and we will test the children the following Thursday. Please practise them using the Look Say Cover Write Check formula on the sheet given. Please encourage the correct letter formation when practising spellings. The sheets do not need to be handed back in.

You could also:

  • Write the words backwards
  • Write each letter in a different colour
  • Make an acrostic poem with each word
  • Put the words into silly sentences

Why?
To develop confidence and accuracy spelling tricky words.

5.3.20 – 12.3.20

Rule:
If a word ends on a consonant + y, we swap the y for an i before adding –ed.

  • dried
  • cried
  • replied
  • carried
  • studied
  • copied
  • hurried
  • multiplied
  • floor
  • poor

These spellings are set on Spelling Shed. Log in details are in the front of reading diaries.
